Who We Are
Soroptimist Club Kuwait
At Soroptimist International Club Kuwait, we are part of a global network of professional and businesswomen committed to creating positive change for women and girls—starting in our local communities and reaching across borders.
As Soroptimists, we work at the local, national, and international levels to Educate, Empower, and Enable women and girls, with the goal of improving lives and advancing gender equality.
Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement of nearly 65,000 members in 118 countries, all united by a shared mission to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
What is a Soroptimist?
The word Soroptimist is derived from Latin—soror meaning "sister" and optima meaning "best." Together, the name reflects the ideal of being "the best for women."

Our Global Structure
Soroptimist International is comprised of five Federations that support and guide members in their respective regions:
Soroptimist International Africa Federation
Soroptimist International of the Americas
Soroptimist International of Europe
Soroptimist International of Great Britain & Ireland
Soroptimist International of the South East Asia Pacific
Each Federation empowers its clubs to lead locally relevant, high-impact initiatives that reflect Soroptimist values and respond to the needs of women and girls in their region.
Our Federation: Soroptimist International of Europe (SIE)
Soroptimist International Club Kuwait proudly belongs to the Soroptimist International of Europe (SIE) Federation—the largest of the five—representing over 29,000 members across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.
Through SIE, our members connect with a wider network of women who implement more than 4,000 projects annually, investing in initiatives that promote education, equality, economic empowerment, and women’s rights. Through this Federation, we are part of a broader platform of advocacy and impact on both a local and global scales.

Our Local Impact
Soroptimist International Club Kuwait

Soroptimist International Club Kuwait was inaugurated on October 23, 2015, at a gala dinner officiated by SIE President Maria Elisabetta de Franciscis, in the presence of the SIE Board and esteemed guests from Kuwait and Europe.
Our founding members are accomplished women across fields such as medicine, psychology, education, business, law, engineering, marketing, banking, real estate, public relations, and more. United by a shared vision, they committed their time and expertise to local service and international sisterhood.
Since then, our club has grown into a vibrant network of over 50 passionate members, leading impactful projects in:
- Education
- Health and wellness
- Environmental sustainability
- Economic empowerment
- Safety and protection from violence
We work closely with government bodies, civil society, and international organizations to create initiatives that are locally responsive, culturally grounded, and socially transformative.
Together with Soroptimists around the world, we are helping build a future where every woman and girl in Kuwait has the opportunity to thrive.
